Just a quick final day update, as it is such a busy day, what with packing and playing and shopping. Getting a match report written by the boys is tough to squeeze in.

Blues and Reds were drawn against both Gloucester A and B Squads. Blues kicking off first then the Reds. Which really gives the boys the chance to support each other.

Blues:

After yesterdays win the spirits were good in the camp and the boys were really looking forward to the last game here in Jersey. Gloucester are a credit to their district and play the game in a great spirit. The blues started off with a flyer. Josh taking the ball on the right and driving towards the by line then unleashing an absolute rocket across the keeper that whacked into the back of the net. From then on in the first half the boys didn’t look back and after a period of pressure Jack connected with a great shot from outside the area that took a deflection and went past the keeper. Jack was quick to claim it. The dubious goals committee are looking at video reply!

Taking a 2-0 lead into the second half, Gloucester really played well and put everyone under pressure but Adam, Alex, Dan stayed strong in the second half and kept a clean sheet for a great victory.

Reds:

As with the Blues after a stunning win against Plymouth yesterday spirits were sky high in the team and really looking forward to today’s challenge against our friends from Gloucester.

In a tight opening 15 minutes both sides attacked and defended with real pace, belying the fact there was some tired bodies out there. After a neat interchange in midfield the ball was moved out to Alfie on the left, who cut inside, Ronaldo like, and bent a shot across the keeper and into the net. Cue the celebration’s from Reds and Blues. The game continued to ebb and flow through the rest of the first half.

Gloucester started the second half brightly and really put the Reds under pressure. Pavel was really in the game and pulled off a Gordon Bank’s like save. Quickly down to his right, a save of outstanding quality. The reds held firm, the defence making sure the ball was cleared promptly and Alfie and Joe trying their best to hold the ball up when it got to them. As the game wore on the Reds Centre midfield started to take control and the flanks really came into it and pressure was relieved. Kai found himself 20 yards out form goal with the ball set it on his right foot, cut it back and blasted a left foot shot over the keepers head and off the underside of the bar and into the net. Two goals in two games for the midfield dynamo. The reds saw the game out for another fine victory, a true team performance!

Well done to both squads for finishing strong in the festival, some very fit strong boys.

Many thanks for all the support, both here and from back home. Much appreciated by all!
